SUMMARY:Self-defense for People with Different Abilities
DESCRIPTION:Register Today\nDesigned for people with diverse needs and abilities\, we begin the class with a listening session that prioritizes  the safety concerns  of the participants and guides the topics to be covered during the workshop.  We understand that the topic of self-defense can be triggering for anyone who has experienced trauma from  bullying\, harassment\, or assault and that the rates of violence are higher for people with diverse abilities and needs; therefore\, we prioritize self-care and creating a space that is safe and inclusive to learning. Participants are empowered to choose techniques and strategies that best suit their bodies and life style. We offer a range of topics such as self-care\, deescalation; strategies to stop and interrupt  harassment and bullying; assertive communication\, identifying healthy and unhealthy behaviors; street smarts; and physical  self-defense skills.  Sessions are led by facilitators who have  years of experience teaching self-defense skills to people of all backgrounds\, genders  and ages. Workshops incorporate best practices in teaching and facilitation and include role plays and scenarios. Register Now
